Rachel requested cold cereal for breakfast. I can totally do that. We opened presents in the morning, before Dad went to work.
Perler Beads! Yay!
What is this? Why did mom and dad get me dirt? Oh! Grit for my rock tumbler! Yay! (We got that thing right to work, and rocks are tumbling in the garage as I write this!)Maliya and Katie each picked out a super gaudy necklace for Rachel. Such fun!
Then we went to the splash pad with cousins. When we came home, Rachel took the money she got in her birthday card from Grandma and Grandpa Tophm to the bank! She was very excited to open her own bank account!
For dinner, she requested mac and cheese. Yeah, I can do that, too. Her birthday happened to land on Adobe's release night. Which is the one night each month that Dad has to stay at work until WAY past even MY bedtime! Rachel had requested that we celebrate her birthday as a family, by camping out in the backyard. :) When I explained that her birthday was on release night, and asked her if she wanted to do the camp out on her birthday or wait until the next night (a Friday would be a perfect night for a camp out!), she chose to go on with the camp out on her birthday without Dad.
But he came home at lunch to take her to the bank, and he came home again for an hour at dinner, to set up the tent and eat ice cream with us. We enjoyed all of his company we could get!
A candle in ice cream!
It was a fun day, for a fun girl! We sure love you, Rachel!
