Katie, These Days

Katie, Katie. What a lady.

Katie is so good at entertaining herself, all alone, for long periods of time. She struggles to play WITH her friends. Part of that, I think, is because both she and all the little girls her age, in our neighborhood, seem to be very strong willed. There is a lot of clashing and butting heads, that happens. But she has gotten a lot better, over the last year, at handling her fights with friends. She tries hard not to hit or scratch or pull hair. Progress!
Katie is learning the letters in her name, and is getting so much better at writing them! She got a Frozen letter tracing book, for Christmas, and has been practicing all on her own. Yesterday, she drew a beautiful 'A' all by herself! Without even tracing!
Katie has also started drawing people. They even look like faces! I'm not sure why, but when explaining her drawings, she almost always says "This is (who ever it is), they're sad." Why are all her drawings sad?
She loves to play with dolls, too, but will often tell me that her baby, that she is cradling, is dead....it's sad...but she'll be alive tomorrow! .......I don't even know what to do with that.
Katie and I have had some pretty awesome conversations, lately. This morning, she told me that "Jesus wives down at the church! Sewiouswy!" I said, "Oh, yeah, the church is His house, huh? Did your teachers tell you that?"
Katie: "Yes, wast time. But, now He wives in the sky!"
Me: "Yeah, in heaven."
Katie: "But, He CAN'T wive in the sky! So, He wives down at the church."

Recently, Brian taught the girls this awesome joke:
Person 1: Knock, knock
Person 2: Who's there?
P1: Pika
P2: Pika-who?
P1: Pika-choo!
P2: BLESS YOU!
The girls thought this joke was so hilarious and it was told over and over again.

The other day, Katie said: "Knock, knock."
Me: "Who's there?"
Katie: "Bless you!"
Me: "Bless you, who?"
Katie "Choooooo!"
hahahaha
